Introduction to the studio, the tutors and other students. Demonstration of different drawing styles, materials and techniques. Experimentation in line, tone and texture in different media.

Afternoon

Approaches to composition, proportion and perspective. Drawing 3D objects and still-life arrangements in different media. Critique and group discussion.

Two

Morning
9.30am-
1.00pm

Keeping a sketchbook and developing a portfolio.
Colour theory and experimentation with colour and printmaking.

Afternoon
2.00pm-
5.00pm

Continue working in the studio, the gardens or surrounding countryside. Individual tutorials.
Critique and group discussion.

Three

Morning
9.30am-
1.00pm

Life drawing (life model for the whole day) and/or printmaking.

Afternoon
2.00pm-
5.00pm

Continue life drawing and printmaking, or pursue individual interests.
Critique and setting up group exhibition.

4.00pm-
5.00pm

Exhibition with wine

Each day lunch will be served at 1.00pm, and there will be a half-hour break in both the morning and afternoon sessions for refreshments.
