Jane Grisewood was born in New Zealand, lived in rural Suffolk, but has recently relocated to London. After a 20-year career in book publishing she decided to return to university to study fine art. She graduated with a first class honours degree and then completed her Masters at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. As a student she won several awards, and was short-listed for the Observer Student Artist Competition.
She has since been the recipient of two Arts Council awards, run many workshops, and exhibited widely. Jane’s work is in private collections in New Zealand, Australia, Italy, America and Britain. She is a part-time lecturer in fine art and working towards a practice-based PhD at University of the Arts London. While her work is concerned with photography, painting and 3D, it is drawing that plays the central role in her practice, with particular emphasis on the line.
Maryanne Nicholls lives in Suffolk and works from her studio at home. After graduating with a first class honours degree from Suffolk College (University of East Anglia), she went on to Norwich School of Art and Design to complete her Masters in Fine Art.
Maryanne regularly attends classes at the Prince of Wales Drawing School in London. Drawing is the inspiration behind her sculptures - creating large individual pieces for gardens and parklands - using a combination of fibreglass, resin, steel and copper.
Her work can be seen in private gardens in England and abroad, and her sculptures and drawings feature in exhibitions across the country. She explores pre-classical and classical cultures – often in the guise of vessels or the human figure – using pared-down forms to set within the landscape.
Cary Norman was trained as a typographic designer at
the London College of Communication and worked running design studios for 10 years. She then went on to complete a BA (Hons) in Art and Design, and subsequently qualified as a lecturer in art and design at Suffolk New College, where she has been teaching drawing, painting, history of art and photography for five years.
Cary also paints, draws and sculpts, regularly exhibiting her work as well as taking on private commissions.
Her work is inspired by natural and familiar forms. She takes a particular interest in kinetic energy and the effects that time has on the materials she uses, particularly her metal sculptures.
